Episode 16 - Bangkok

Info on Bangkok

We stayed at Wendy Guest House, on Soi Kasem San 1, next to MBK center, National Stadium Skytrain station.
It is a very nice Guest House, a little bit pricy 1000฿, but very well located and nice.

The hair extension cost 1750
฿ for 5 layers. It is the best price I have found.
Create Hair Salon, in Siam Square's Pass By Mini Mall.

Episode 15 - Angkor

Info on Angkor

In the town of Siem Reap, we advise you to eat at:
- Temple on Pub Street, the food is very good and they have a very cute free Apsara dance show
- The Soup Dragon, on Pub Street too.

And NOT to eat at a place called Dead Fish, the food is very bad and the staff inefficient and disagreable.

To visit Angkor Archeological Site, we bought a 7 days pass, for $60,
you can also buy 1day pass for $20 and 3 days for $40 .

You can rent a bicycle and go on your own to the sites or hire a tuk-tuk, we recommend you our driver Thy, he is very nice and speaks a very good english (as you can see in the video).
Around $10 half day for the closest temples (Angkor Wat, Thom etc) $12 for the further temples (Ta Prohm, Preah Khan etc)
You can reach him at (+855
) 12 932 334 or yellowtuktuk_t@yahoo.com

Episode 14 - Phnom Penh

Info on Phnom Penh

We really enjoyed eating at
- Cafe de Coral, a good Dim Sum place at the crossroad of Road 136 and 13
- La Croisette, on the riverfront, they have good breakfasts and wifi
- Sharky's Bar, good and cheap mexican food, but a bit dark and it is a "Lady Bar"

We didn't find where to go for the night life, but we had fun at Memphis Live Music by the riverfront, a good philipinos band playing 7/7, the drinks are a bit pricey, but it's fun

Episode 13 - Cambodian Coast

Info on Cambodian Coast

Kampot

The bus from Phnom Penh to Kampot takes 5 hours and not 2 like the Lonely Planet says.
We stayed at Kampot Guest House, $15 a night, where the food is delicious.
Blissful Guest House, right across the street is fun to hang out in, the food is good, and there is a lot of games available.
If you want to go
to Bokor Hill to visit Ghost Town make sure the weather is good, otherwise it will be a useless. $40/pax, but the conditions will change when the road will be open.

Sihanoukville

We stayed at Orchid Guest House, a bit pricey, but very a very nice place with a swimming pool.
We enjoyed eating at:
- Monkey Republic, good hearty food
- Angelo's BBQ, divine seafood BBQ

The night life is not very exciting, we tried the local disco, Blue Storm, no point at all.

Episode 10 - Nha Trang

Info on Nha Trang

We stayed at Nice Hotel, which is not in the current Lonely Planet guide but it lives up to its name. It’s located on an alley off of Hung Vuong.

There are a lot of restaurants and services in Nha Trang but they are not all worth it.

We recommend:
- La Mancha, a Spanish restaurant with impressive plates of Tapas.
- Le Petit Bistrot, a descent French restaurant with good steaks, and a large selection of side dishes such as potatoes au gratin and green beans.
- Pho Cali, a simple Vietnamese restaurant that serves fast, good and cheap food (next to Nice Hotel).
- Guava, a fairly popular nightspot serves good Western style breakfast all day.
- Rainbow Divers, diving center. It is a bit pricier than the other places, but worth it for their professional and attentive staff. $60 for two dives.
- Mama Linh boat cruise is a fun day on a boat filled with Western and Vietnamese tourists. The crew is also the entertainment and the Mama Linh rock Band, with their plastic bucket drum kit, is highlight of the day. A great show! You can snorkel and drink wine on the floating bar in the sea, and lunch is better than expected. Only the island stop is a bit dull but it still makes a good, cheap day of fun for only $7.
- Sailing Club, for drinks and dancing. A bit pricey, but trendy and great location right on the beach. The best after hours we found in town.
- Crazy Kim Bar, is good for drinking (good happy hour).

We don’t recommend:
- Sailing Club, for dinner. The food is overpriced and small portions (you’re better off at Good Morning Vietnam or one of the other cheaper nearby Italian places).
- Le Bistrot Parisien, expensive and very disappointing.
- Jean Lou Coiffeur de Paris, don’t get fooled by his so called “travail à la française” (French job) advertising! He’s a disagreeable and behind the times.
- Crazy Kim Beauty Salon, is too expensive!

Also, you should note – all of the warnings about getting robbed are not exaggerations. Pockets are routinely emptied outside of many of the drinking places late at night (we saw this firsthand). Carry only as much cash as you need and keep your hands on your cash (or in your pockets) as you leave the bars.
